By description, the Parish Pastoral Council is a consultative body that unites laity and clergy in a community of prayer, leadership, service, and pastoral planning.  The PPC makes recommendations to the Parish Pastoral Staff and consults with the staff on major pastoral matters.  We represent the interests and needs of the parish community.  Our current members are: Mike Melfi (chair), Nick Somich (vice-chair), Donna Apanasewicz, Mary Chinchar, Andrea Dean, Chris Hainrihar, Frank Koballa, John Kitko, and Sue Smith.

Each of our members has been nominated by someone in the parish and then selected via a process known as “discernment.”  There are typically nine parishioners on the Council with three members rotating off each year.  The total commitment is three years for each member.

By performing research and collaborating in subcommittees, our Council is determining how to improve the Welcoming, Engaging, and Affirming practices of our parish.  For example, the welcoming materials provided to prospective new parishioners are in the process of being revised to best describe the state of St. Felicitas Parish in 2007.  It is also our intent to make our Councils, Committees, and Commissions more visible, as each of us considers volunteering our time and talent to groups we know more about.  We hope that you will recognize and enjoy subtle differences in the areas of Welcoming, Engaging, and Affirming as we continue into 2007.

Being involved in ministries at St. Felicitas has many benefits, including the intrinsic reward of knowing you’ve helped to make our parish a better one.  We enjoy the opportunity to work closely with other motivated fellow parishioners and our outstanding Parish Staff as your St. Felicitas Parish Pastoral Council.  Please feel free to contact any of us with your comments.  We look forward to continue serving you into the future. May God Bless you and this Church on the Hill.
