Tom is a Permanent Deacon in The Diocese of
Cleveland, assigned to The St. Felicitas Parish.
"as I look at my ministry, where I spend
most of my time is at school and with my family". Tom teaches in the Perry
School System and is married to Carole with two children, Thomas and Heather.
What it means to be a deacon:
Christ calls all of us to be of service
to others. As a deacon, I am called to be of greater service to my community,
parish, family and wife. By loving others, I show Christ to the world.
We are all called to a life of service. As a deacon in a secular world,
I am called to witness to Christ, more by my actions and deeds than by
my words. It has been said “Preach often, and if you must, use words.”
The following poem sums up my approach
to ministry and life:
This is the beginning of a new day.
God has given it to me,
but what I do with today is important,
for I am exchanging a day of my life for
it.
When tomorrow comes, today will be gone
forever,
leaving in it’s place something I have
traded for it.
I want it to be gain, not loss,
Good, not evil,
Success, not failure.
We read in Matthew 24:44
“You must be prepared, for an hour you
do not expect, the Son of Man will come.”
I just want to be prepared!
