Faith
Formation
GOAL: Building
on the personal relationship with Jesus begun in Baptism, we strive to
grow our faith as individuals and as a parish community.
A consistent need
expressed during the survey phase of this project was the need for spiritual
development within the parish. Many individuals expressed a desire for
opportunities and programs which would deepen their spiritual life and
understanding. In response to this, we have adopted the following objectives:
-
Assess parishioners
needs by segment and provide experiences and programs to deepen our faith.
-
Enhance the Parish School
of Religious program to better educate the youth of our parish.
To begin achieving these
objectives, we commit ourselves to the following:
-
Design an instrument
to determine the Faith Formation needs of specific populations in the parish.
Planning for this will begin in the summer of 2001, with implementation
to begin in the fall.
-
Create a PSR Parent
Teacher Board. This will be initiated in the fall of 2001.
We have already re-initiated
the Men's and Women's Renewal here in the Parish. The Men's renewal took
place April 21-22. The next Women's renewal will be in October, 2001.

Celebration
GOAL: Enhance
our celebration of faith with full, conscious and active paticipation of
the entire parish family.
In surveys and group
meetings, you told us you wanted to enhance the quality of our liturgies
and voiced concern about improving our liturgical music. In response, we
have adopted the following objectives:
-
Enhance the music ministry
to include greater diversity in both age and style in order to better touch
all parishioners.
-
Develop and encourage
increased youth involvement in all aspects of celebration.
-
Provide Masses that
meet the diverse spiritual needs of the parish community.
-
Explore a variety of
paraliturgical experiences designed to increase understanding and provide
for priestless services.
In order to begin achieving
these objectives, we commit ourselves to the following:
-
During this year, 2001,
the Liturgy Commission will begin to examine the location of all existing
music groups to explore the possibility of locating all of these groups
in a single location on the main floor of the Church.
-
In late 2001, the Liturgy
Commission will explore the feasibility of hiring a full-time Director
of Music for all existing parish music groups.
-
Within the next three
years, we will review the Mass schedule regarding attendance and priest
availability.
-
The Liturgy Commission
will explore a policy of re-instituting announcements at Mass.
-
In the future, we will
explore the possibility of a Children's Liturgy of The Word.
-
The Liturgy Commission
will begin planning ways to provide more education for the parish about
topics of liturgy and worship through a variety of means, such as: bulletin
inserts, Internet presence and liturgical education offerings for the parish.

In the spring of 2001,
create a Steering Committee to form a Parish Pastoral Council.
-
In the spring of 2001,

years, assess current parish communications; evaluate forms of media to
improve communication; personally welcome new parishioners; and create

Community
/ Youth
GOAL: Realizing
that our youth are vital now and to the future, we are called to affirm
their gift/contributions and commit ourselves to assist in their ongoing
imvolvement.
A consistent theme
throughout the survey and group meeting process was the need to bring young
people to a fuller and more active participation in the parish through
a variety of means. In response, we have adopted the following objective:
-
Motivate young adults,
(high school/post high school age), to responsibly participate in all areas
of parish life.
To begin achieving this
objective, we commit ourselves to the following actions:
-
Stage One: Construct
a needs assessment tool, which will lead to a comprehensive parish-wide
assessment of youth, with the goal of fostering a youth-friendly environment
in our parish.
-
Stage Two: Obtain accurate
youth information by creating a database of all youth in the parish from
junior high school through college age.
-
Stage Three through
Seven: Initiate a working plan to include all youth in the work, life and
mission of our parish.
The Parish Youth
Commission has already been working with a Youth Consultant on the development
of the above assessment.
